This ''Symphony'' is Haczewskis only extant piece and one of the first Polish symphonies. It was discovered by Tadeusz Strumiłło in 1952 in Greater Poland, where the composer worked in the second half of the eighteenth century. It presents the early phase of the formation of the Polish classical symphony, as demonstrated by the 3-movement construction of the piece (Allegro con Spirito, Alla Polacca, Allegretto) with the central part in the key of the subdominant, the structure of the first theme (contrast in the direction of the melody, rhythmic, tonal and dynamic contrasts), and also the performance forces (the second movement is without horns). The Alla Polacca movement, like the finale, refers in a stylized way to folk music, and gives the ''Symphony'' a national character (Alina Nowak-Romanowicz, PWM Encyclopedia of Music). The piece is characterised by classic simplicity and harmony. In the finale there are Krakowiak motives.
