The style of the Concerto in F sharp minor, Op. 14 is fully conditioned by the convention of virtuoso violin music. The perfect balance inherent in classical concertos between purely musical qualities and virtuoso moments is clearly shaken in favor of virtuosity. The show-off and technical element is absolutely dominant, and the specific treatment of the violin texture is one of the main stylistic determinants of this "music in the service of the performer".
