The present issue of Polski Rocznik Muzykologiczny features proceedings of the international conference “Szymanowski in twentieth- and twenty first-century culture”, which was held on 2–4 October 2017 in Zakopane, as part of the celebrations of the Karol Szymanowski Year on the 135th anniversary of his birth and 80th anniversary of his death. The representatives of various humanistic disciplines (besides musicologists, among others, literature and culture scholars) address here thematically and methodologically varied reflection on the significance and impact of Karol Szymanowski’s oeuvre and personality on culture in the twentieth and twenty first centuries.
