Danse Triste
for Alto Saxophone and Piano
Danse Triste - composition for alto saxophone and piano, was written to a spcial commission by Lynn E. Klock and performed by him for the first time at Carnegie Hall in New York in January 1978. The piece consists of three movements: I. Introduction (5'30''), II. Danse Triste (3'30''), and III. Finale (4 '). The composer takes full advantage of all the sound and tone possibilities of the saxophone. The piano part is also noteworthy as it is not just a background, but interacts with the saxophone and contains many elements of virtuosity.
