Wagner
The protagonist of the presented monograph is Richard Wagner, a composer of genius, an outstanding representative of German Romanticism, a writer of operas and musical dramas, such as ''Tannhäuser'', ''Lohengrin'', ''The Ring of the Nibelung'', ''Tristan and Isolde and Parsifal''. His personality - complex, ambivalent, full of contradictions - still arouses strong controversies. What attracts and fascinates in his art is, above all, the music, expressing emotions, spiritual and mental states, representing human characters and painting unusually beautiful images of nature. Wagner has his prominent place in the history of literature and theatre, but it is in the history of music that his position - as one of the greatest composers - is the highest, most important and most permanent.
