Announcement: Chopin Album

2009-11-19
"Chopin – Album", prepared by Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne and BOSZ publishers on the occasion of Chopin’s upcoming anniversaries, especially the 200th anniversary of his birth, is addressed to a wide audience, both in Poland and abroad.

We recommend this beautiful publication primarily to lovers of Fryderyk Chopin’s phenomenal talent, but also for those who wish to learn more about the composer and the times in which he happened to live. The author of the album concept and the text is prof. Mieczysław Tomaszewski, an eminent Polish musicologist and Chopinologist, author of many books about the composer (including the award-winning book, "Chopin. Man - Work – Resonance"); the graphic design has been prepared by prof. Władysław Pluta. The text will be complemented by extensive illustrative material, including archival reproductions and photos, as well as contemporary photographs showing places associated with Chopin’s life.

Professional photographers have prepared the contemporary photos, and reproductions of archival materials come from the National Museum in Warsaw National Museum in Krakow, the National Museum in Poznan, the Czartoryski Museum, the National Library, the Jagiellonian Library, the Bridgeman Art Library in London, the Tate Gallery and others.

The publication will consist of 360 pages and over 450 photos, and its release is planned for December 2009. The album will be released in two languages - Polish and English. A German edition of the album will also be available by special order, prepared by our co-editors - the German publisher, Schott Music.
