Polish First Performance of Marta Ptaszyńska's Inverted Mountain
2004-05-27
On 4 June M. Ptaszyńska's "Inverted Mountain" as well as I. F. Dobrzyński’s "First Symphony" will be performed at the Wrocław Philharmonic: the former work for the first time in Poland and the latter for the first time in several decades.
The Wrocław Philharmonic has planned real "dainty bits" for the connoiseurs of Polish music for 4 June 2004. In addition to Wojciech Kilar's "Krzesany" and Marta Ptaszyńska's "Concerto grosso" for two violins and chamber orchestra, the symphonic concert programme will include the latter composer's symphonic work "Inverted Mountain" composed in 2000 and performed for the first time in Poland as well as "Symphony No. 1 in B major" by Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński. The "Symphony" will appear after several decades of absence in music halls owing to its being included in the repertory by Mariusz Smolij, the artistic director of the Wrocław Philharmonic, and to the preparation – by PWM Edition - of the orchestral parts from the copy of the score made accessible by the Warsaw Music Society Library.
