I have decided to write a song to Pushkin's words for a competition. I hate competitions, but they pay for participating, so one can earn reasonably and easily. The competition with nine composers attending was organised to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the poet's birth and the result was determined in May of the following year. The first prize wasn't awarded, the second went to Gradstein and the third to Lutosławski for the Lawina (Avalanche) song whose premiere took place on the 26th of September 2012 in Kraków with the participation of the singer Lesław Finze.
