Capriccio energico
for Violin and Piano
Capriccio energico was written in 1956, a short, few-minute piece for violin and piano. A contradiction lies in the title, but not in the music. The violin line winds capriciously in certain parts of the solo, but it exudes energy, a kind of barbarism in the other, mainly violin/piano parts, occasionally referring to .... Béla Bartok. Everything is built with iron logic. Well ... the composer has been labeled a humorist and yet Capriccio Energico, as the artist himself confessed, is not completely humorous.
