I Heard You Singing
for solo soprano and unaccompanied mixed choir
I Heard You Singing, to words by the twentieth-century British poet Harry Rodney Bennett, is a tale of love and waiting for a beloved. It is musically presented by a solo voice juxtaposed with a choir. The music subtly reflects the text, illustrating a sunrise and the babbling of a stream, but also approaching death. This composition was commissioned by the National Forum of Music in Wrocław for the Polish National Youth Choir. It was first performed on 13 July 2018 in Sandomierz.
