Little Overture
for Symphony Orchestra
Wojciech Kilar's youthful, neoclassical composition from 1955, which earned the composer the second prize in the Competition for Symphonic Works at the Fifth Youth Festival in Warsaw. The piece is characterised by motoric rhythm, large dynamic contrasts and strong climaxes placed upon a background of evenly pulsating rhythm. It was the first work by Wojciech Kilar to have been published by Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne.
