Étude Hommage à F. Chopin contains numerous allusions to the works of Fryderyk Chopin, including to the last etude from op. 25, which employs schematic passagework, and to the Scherzo in C sharp minor, cantilena and melancholy fragments of which appear in the middle section of the work. The complex harmonic language combined with the quasi-Rachmaninovian texture forge a musical experiment that pays tribute to one of the most outstanding Polish composers.
