Variations on a Original Theme
for String Quartet
The ''Variations in C minor on an Original Theme'' for string quartet, the fruit of the composer's studies with Noskowski, were premiered on 15 February 1882, during one of the evening concerts of the Warsaw Musical Society. After their performance Kleczyński wrote in ''Echo Muzyczne'' that ''this composition conceived on a wide scale is noteworthy''. The autograph of the score and the parts of the ''Variations'' are to be found in the library of the Warsaw Music Society. [Tadeusz Przybylski]
