Emil Bernard Wojtacki was born In Olsztyn In 1981, where he graduated from the local music school in the cello class. He studied information systems at the University of Warmia and Masuria and in 2001 began to study music theory at the Cracow Academy of Music. He broadened his knowledge his knowledge in this field at the Universität für Musik Und Darstellende Kunst in Graz (Austria) in the class of Clemens Gadenstätter. He also joined compositional courses led by Professor James Clark. In 2007 he finished – with honours – his studies in composition in the class of Professor Józef Rychlik, while his diploma work - „Concerto per violoncello ed orchestra” – was placed among works for the second stage of the Public Media “Opus” Award in the field of music. His works have been performed at festivals in the Czech Republic (Ostravské Dny Nové Hudby, Introspekce Nové Hudby), Mexico (Foro Internacional De Música Nueva), Germany (Festival Junger Künstler) and Poland (International Days of Cracow Composers’ Music).
In 2008 he started his doctoral studies at the Academy Music in Cracow. In February 2009 he won First Prize of the Lord Mayor of the City of Częstochowa in the International Composition Competition “Musica Sacra” for his work “De caritate”.
His theoretic interests focus mainly on musical aesthetics and organization of sound material at the most elementary level (chiefly contemporary counterpoint studies). Vocal-instrumental music and the exploration of silence are important trends in his compositional works.
