Andrzej Kwieciński

Andrzej Kwieciński was born in Warsaw on 11th June 1984. He studied at the faculty of composition at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag (Royal Conservatory in the Hague, the Netherlands) under the tutelage of Richard Ayers, Diderik Hakma-Wagenaar, Martijn Padding, Yannis Kyriakides and Louis Andriessen. His works were performed at many concerts and festivals, e.g.: the Premiere Festival, Gaudeamus Muziekweek, Klang!, Musica Polonica Nova, Turning Sounds, Warsaw Autumn by such ensembles as Lutosławski Quartet, Matangi Quartet, Royal String Quartet, ensemble proton, Nieuw Ensemble, Ensemble Resonanz, Orkiestra Aukso, Orchestra Gulbenkian and Sinfonia Varsovia.

He is a holder of an award and a scholarship of the Minister of Culture (2005-2006), a scholarship of the Dutch Ministry of Culture “Huygens Scholarship” (2008-2009) and a scholarship of the Witold Lutosłwaski Society (2010). In 2012 Andrzej Kwieciński was a composer-resident at the Łódź Philharmonics within a programme run by the Institute of Music and Dance. In 2010 he won the 1st prize at the Composers’ Competition “Young Masters XXI”. In 2012 he was nominated for the Gaudeamus Prize. At the 61st International Rostrum of Composers in 2014 his work “Canzon de’ baci” ranked first in the category of composers under 30 and was given a recommendation in the general category as well as a special prize of the International Music Council and Radio France.
