''The Cabaret under the Aegis'' is the third book, after ''The Cabaret of the Two Elderly Gentlemen'' of Jeremi Przybora and Jerzy Wasowski and ''The Cabaret Songs'' of Jan Kaczmarek, which recalls the best known and most popular cabaret songs. In the present publication we present twenty songs of the satirical cabaret ''Under the Aegis'' founded in 1957 by Jan Pietrzak, including such hits as ''Can these eyes lie?'', ''Where are those men?'', ''Don't forget about the gardens'', ''Such a country'', ''In thirty or so years' time'' and ''For Poland to be Poland''. The songs reflect the public feelings and realities in Poland in the last fourty years and continue to be enjoyed by the audiences during the Cabaret's performances in Poland and in the Polonia circles.
