Chantefleurs et chantefables
for Soprano and Piano
Witold Lutosławski's few works for voice and piano include(...). Eugeniusz Knapik has added to this genre with his arrangement of ''Chantefleurs et chantefables'' which, perhaps, constitues the finest of Lutosławski's vocal works. It was written in 1989-90 for soprano and orchestra. Obviously the piano on its own cannot do full justice to the breathtaking timbres of the original, but, thanks to its many other virtues, this music retains an unusual charm, even in a simpler but more practical version.
