Constantin Floros is one of the pioneers in overcoming the formalistic paradigm of musical analysis. He created the theoretical foundations of "musical exegetics" and presented interpretations that permanently changed the image of 19th and 20th century music. In the book "Man, Love and Music", which is his scientific and life credo, Floros brings back the humanistic aspects of music that were marginalized in the 20th century. Beginning with the question of the meaning of music in general, it deals with antiquated notions such as the notion of "absolute music". Based on new interdisciplinary research and on numerous, often unknown, documents, he shows that musical masterpieces, from Monteverdi to Berg, can be listened to as the sonic language of love: that Mozart's music contains a whole repertoire of figures expressing the sensitivity that in Schumann's works there are hidden messages for Clara Wieck that in Wagner's musical dramas, man, love and music form an inseparable unity, that Strauss's opera "Salome" is an expression of the psychopathology of love. In addition, the topic of "humanistic music" is raised in the context of other artists, incl. Holst, Messiaen, Stockhausen.
