In The Valley of Hornets
for accordion
How might nature sound close up?
I’ve pondered this many a time. So I decided to try and show some sounds that can be played on the accordion.
People say that bees and hornets only ‘buzz’. But perhaps their music sounds completely different close up…? In the Valley of Hornets represents my musical hypothesis that the melodies of these creatures might sound as I have rendered them in this work.
I dedicated this work to Kamila Olas, who has inspired me with her interpretations of new accordion compositions. Knowing her musical and stage personality, I am sure that she will best convey to listeners the exceptional and beautiful musical world of hornets.
