Grey Mist
for Baritone and Orchestra
''A vocal - symphonic poem, dedicated to Andrzej Bachleda. The composer's poetic inspiration was the folk song ''Górole, górole, górolska muzyka '' in which the hoary fog 'sat upon Giewont [mountain] '' and obscured the shepherds way to the girl (L. Polony). The axis of the piece said the composer is the wierchowa tune which has fascinated me since long ago, and is probably of ancient origin; a rare and unusual one in its elementary simplicity and deliciously rich structure of folk-melodies, whose natural perfection is a puzzle for a professional composer. All the elements of the piece are derived from the musical and verbal content of this tune.
