In 1985 I wrote two string quartets - the Seventh - a one part miniature of a quartet in fact, and the Eight - a more elaborated one with much broader means of expression. The composition consists of five movements: Tranquillo, Furioso, Infernale, Drammatico and Tranquillo. I believe that at the same time these terms characterise my music. My using of this term does not mean any hidden extramusical notations. What I am concerned with is merely a kind of expression, colour, a way of interpretation. The Eight Quartet has an arch construction - its fifth movements should be performed attaca.
