Film about the National Edition of the Works of Fryderyk Chopin.

2011-04-07
Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne is proud to present you with a film about the National Edition of the Works of Fryderyk Chopin. The gala premiere was held on April 6th at the Musikmesse International Music Fair. NATIONAL EDITION of the Works of Fryderyk Chopin the first critical source publication in the world of the complete works of this composer contains 36 volumes. Every one of these includes commentary on the sources and performance notes, for purchase indivudally or as a complete set. All volumes have also been published in the form of a set in miniature (without commentary). In the Biblioteka Materiałów Orkiestrowych in Warsaw it is possible to borrow the orchestral parts to Chopins concert pieces. Work on this publication has lasted since 1959. Jan Ekier and Paweł Kamiński editors of the National Edition, have devoted half a century to this, so that by the 200th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopins birth this great task can be completed. The whole of the text contained in the publication has been edited based on sources derived directly from the composer first and foremost from autographs, copies of the autographs checked by Chopin and first editions, in this we include examples from lessons with the composers annotations. Editors of the National Edition had access to originals or photocopies of practically all the available sources during their work, which were also checked for their authenticity and relevance. Chopin included many suggestions for interpretation in his works, which is why it is very important to reproduce the letter and spirit of Chopins manuscripts as faithfully as possible.
