Chorale and Tarantella
for Bassoon and Piano
Grażyna Krzanowska’s Chorale and Tarantella for bassoon and piano are two short works aimed at pupils who have been studying for a few years already, on account of the rhythmic complications and the equal partnership between bassoon and piano in the Tarantella’s polyphonic planes.
The juxtaposing of a solemn Chorale with a lively Italian Tarantella allows the pupil to practise playing smoothly at a slower tempo and in longer rhythmic values, and also quicker passages in a swaying triple metre.
