In ninetieth-century Warsaw, Kurpiński was renowned as a composer of operas and polonaises inspired by the rich heritage of Polish traditional music, which helped to shape patriotic attitudes. The present collection, containing three polonaises in the keys of G major, D minor and G minor, is aimed at introducing the listener to the valuable output by this predecessor of Chopin.
