Three Dances
Op. 34 for Orchestra
Three Dances is one of Górecki's few works written in the mid-1970s, the period of limited creative activities caused by the composer's ill health. Still in 1973 he succeeded in completing this orchestral work consisting of three contrasted dances of clearly folk provenance. The work was dedicated to Antoni Szafranek, the leading spirit at the Rybnik Intermediate School of Music, where Górecki began his proper music studies at the teacher-training course in 1952.
