Wiklina
for voice and piano
''Wiklina, to words by Tadeusz Zelenay, a left-wing poet also cooperating with Tygodnik Powszechny after the war, is a song from the repertoire of patriotic pieces by Stefan Kisielewski. Zelenay was not an eminent poet, the text of Wiklina is striking with its naivity and its somewhat clumsy attempt to combine the lyrical idiom with the heroic (setting it during the war failed to dispel the romantic spirit of elation and overshadow the beauty of nature). The composer took advantage of this duality, however, giving the first part (Andantino), illustrating the journey by a boat among the wicker growing on the lake, an almost onomatopoeic character of ''moving on the water.
