Jan Piotr Habermann

Jan Piotr Habermann

ca. 1720-1770

Jan Piotr Habermann, first half of the Eighteenth century, Polish violinist, Kapellmeister and composer. There is no information that would suggest he was associated with the Czech musical family of Habermann. From August 1737 to February 1738, he worked in the Jesuit Musical School in Krakow, where he received the opinion of being "an excellent violinist." In the ‘40s he was Kapellmeister for the Jesuits in Lviv, then probably worked in Krakow, from where he was brought to the Pauline Monastery band in Jasna Góra in July 1762. He stayed there for a month.
