Marek Jasiński

1949-2010

Marek Piotr Jasiński (born on 10 Septemebr 1949 in Stargard Szczeciński, died on 15 February 2010) – a Polish composer. In 1974 he finished the State Higher School of Music in Poznań, and in 1979 he graduated in composition under the tutelage of Andrzej Koszewski from the same school. In 1995 he began his work as a lecturer at the Faculty of Composition and Theory of Music of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. He became a professor of music in 1999. Over the period 1999–2005 he was the dean of that faculty. He composed choir, vocal and instrumental, and instrumental music. Two of his compositions – Beatus Vir and Pieśń Zwiastowania (‘Song of Annunciation’) for mixed choir – were awarded at the international composers competition. He also composed ‘Lux ex Veritas’ for the inauguration of the Szczecin Cathedral organ.
