Aleksander Szeligowski

Aleksander Szeligowski

1934-1993

Aleksander Szeligowski, born 24 VIII 1934, Vilnius, died 4 V 1993, Poznań, composer, conductor and organist, son of Tadeusz Szeligowski. He studied composition with his father and under J. Pawlak at the PWSM in Poznań (Diplomas: 1959 and 1960); in 1962 he graduated with honours from conducting studies under S. Wisłocki at the PWSM in Warsaw. From 1964-1993 he was a senior lecturer at the PWSM (later the Academy of Music) in Poznań (he led score reading, orchestration, introduction to composition and improvisation.) From 1966 to 1969 he was assistant conductor at the Poznań Philharmonic. He conducted symphonic concerts in Poznań, Lublin, Wrocław and Szczecin. He also performed as an organist.
