Edward Bogusławski

Edward Bogusławski

1940-2003

Edward Bogusławski was born on 22 September 1940 in Chorzów, died May 23, 2003 in Katowice, Polish composer. In 1964 he graduated in music theory, and composition in 1966 under the direction of B. Szabelski at the PWSM in Katowice, then complemented this with further study under Haubenstock-Ramati in Vienna. From 1963 he taught at the PWSM in Katowice. In 1966, 1970 and 1972 he was the winner of the Malawski Composition Competition in Krakow. In 1971 at the International Rostrum of Composers he received a distinction for his "Concerto per oboe e orchestra". In 1975 he won first prize for „Ewokacje” at the National Competition for Composers of the 30th anniversary of the liberation of Warsaw. He taught composition, among other subjects, at the Music Academy in Katowice, from 1983 as a Professor. He collaborated with the Higher School of Pedagogy in Częstochowa. From 1985-1987 he was a member of the committee for artistic education at the Ministry of Culture and Art. In 1996 he received the first prize in a composition competition in Krakow for his "Concerto" for organ and orchestra. KPod
