Zbigniew Bagiński

*1949

Zbigniew Bagiński, born 19 January 1949 in Szczecin, Polish composer. In the years 1967-71 he studied composition at the PWSM in Warsaw with T. Paciorkiewicz. In 1989 he took the composition class at the Music Academy in Warsaw. He collaborates with PWST in Warsaw, and additionally, he collaborated with the Musicological Institue of KUL in the years 1973-74. From 1989-99 he was the general secretary of the Polish Composers’ Union (ZKP). Winner of many compositional prizes, including in 1973 receiving a distinction at the competition for young composers for Wyprawy Na Drugą Stronę, in 1992 – 3rd prize at the international composition competition in Kiev for Threnody, in 1995 – 1st prize in the competition on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Polish Composers’ Union for Mała Symfonia Elegijna.
