Borys Lomani

1893-1975

Borys Grzegorz Lomani, born 11 April, 1893 in Riga, died on 11 July, 1979 in Warsaw, Polish composer, pianist, conductor. He studied piano with A. Baumgarten and H. Barabaschi and instrumentation with R. Strobel in St. Petersburg. In 1918, he continued his studies with E. Sostow (counterpoint), and from 1919 to 1920, with A. Glazunov (orchestration, composition). In 1922 he came to Poland and lived in Augustów. In 1927 he emigrated to Brazil, where from 1939 he worked as an orchestrator and director of the radio orchestra of the Radio Station IV in São Paulo. After returning to Poland in 1951 he worked for the Polish Radio in Warsaw.
