I wanted "Cantus" to express these ideas in the fullest possible way with the available musical means, allowing the listener to experience the internal states mentioned in his text by St. Basil the Great. In order to achieve this, I used the polychoral technique known since the Renaissance and - to obtain musical depth, spatiality of sound and intensify artistic experiences - I used topophonic texture, arranging three performance groups around the audience. Choosing a setting where the listener is literally in the center of sound event significantly influences the way in which he or she can experience correspondence and the interpenetration of thematic thoughts between the voices of three different bands. The recipient hears the same melody, rhythmic figure, harmony from different sides. In Cantus, various sound planes constantly overlap, which, depending on the moment of the musical course, fulfill various functions: melodic, counterpointing or accompanying.
