Csárdás
for Flute and Piano
''Czardas'' for violin and orchestra is Monti's best known and most popular work, and it is on this piece that his fame rests. The unusual popularity of the work resulted in many transcriptions. This national Hungarian dance consists of a slow section, the ''lassu'' and a fast part, the ''friska'', with the characteristic syncopated shifts of accents and tempo increasing with considerable energy. The work gives the performer the perfect opportunity for presenting his skills and an effective, bravura-like performance, almost inviting the audience to dance, may set the seal on any concert.
