Fryderyk Chopin"s Pieces at the Olympics in London

During the "Chopin Marathon" the public at the Summer Olympic Games in London will be able to hear Fryderyk Chopin’s music performed by Polish pianists: Paweł Wakarecy and Marcin Koziak. The concert will take place on July 31 at London's Cadogan Hall. The "Chopin Marathon" is one of the cultural events accompanying the demanding sports events in the XXX Summer Olympic Games. It is organized by the Ludwig van Beethoven Association, whose director Andrzej Giza recalls the relationship between sport and music: "Few people remember that the first Olympic gold for Poland after World War II went to the composer Zbigniew Turski. (...) The idea was that the modern Olympics should bear witness to both the physical and the spiritual dimension of modern man found its culmination in the award-winning "Olympic Symphony" by the Polish composer. "He received a gold medal in 1948 in the Olympic Competition for Culture and the Arts, accompanying the XIV Olympic Games in London. The competition, held regularly since the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912, was then held in London for the last time.Honorary patron of the concert is Poland’s first lady, Anna Komorowska, who announced her participation in the event. Other guests invited to the concert included, among others, representatives of the International Olympic Committee. Listeners will receive commemorative postage stamps issued by Poczta Polska on the occasion of the Summer Olympics in London.

The 4CD album featuring songs and instrumental works by the Silesian master goes on sale as of 8 November. The Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw invites to the inaugural session of the biennial International Digital Musicology Conference, which will be held 23–25 October 2024, at the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, Poland. The conference focuses on the integration of digital technologies into musicological research, with a special emphasis on introducing digital tools and methods to the Polish academic community, where digital musicology has not yet been widely adopted.
