2026-10-06
The short documentary “Bacewicz x Bomsori”, directed by Jakub Piątek, is reaching an ever-wider international audience. The film, which explores South Korean violinist Bomsori Kim’s encounter with the music of Grażyna Bacewicz, will be screened at upcoming film festivals in Warsaw, Reykjavik and Barcelona.
After its success at this year’s Kraków Film Festival, where Jakub Piątek was awarded the Golden Lajkonik, it is now time for screenings in the capital. The film will be screened at the 42nd Warsaw International Film Festival, one of the most important cultural events on Poland’s film calendar. The screenings will take place on 10 October at 9.30 pm and on 12 October at 7.00 pm at the Atlantic A cinema, as part of the ‘Best Polish Short Films 2026’ section.
On the same day, the film will also be screened in Reykjavík. At The Pigeon International Film Festival, it will be shown as part of the Saturday programme ‘Shorts III’, dedicated to short films. This is yet another opportunity for the story of Bomsori’s encounter with Grażyna Bacewicz’s music to reach audiences outside Poland.
The next major stop on the festival map will be Barcelona. ‘Bacewicz x Bomsori’ has been selected for the competition section of the 24th edition of In-Edit Barcelona – International Music Documentary Film Festival, an event dedicated to documentary films about music. This year’s edition of the festival will take place from 29 October to 8 November at Mooby Aribau Cinemas in Barcelona.
These are not just another series of screenings, but also an opportunity to introduce Grażyna Bacewicz – one of the most important Polish composers of the 20th century – and her music to an international audience through Bomsori’s contemporary perspective and interpretation.

The theme of the 37th Krakow International Festival of Composers is music in music. Already in the 1970s, this issue was studied by the outstanding founder of the Krakow Theoretical School, Professor Mieczysław Tomaszewski. He reflected on the subject in an article entitled “At the Opening: why ‘music in music’”, which was published before one of the famous Music Meetings in Baranów.
