Cheap Imitations
for Chamber Ensemble
The score of Tanie imitacje (Cheap imitations) consists of five movements-pieces written for flute, clarinet (bass clarinet), piano, string quartet and environmental sounds played back from a CD or computer. The title imitates John Cages title of the piece Cheap imitation based on the composition Socrate by Eric Satie. In some movements of Tanie imitacje there is used notation deriving from signs introduced by Helmut Lachenmann. The work was dedicated to Vladimir Tarnopolski and the Studio for New Music ensemble and premiered at the Moscow Autumn Festival on November 27th, 2008.
