Adolescere
for violin, cello, double bass, percussion and accordion
The term adolescere comes from Latin and means ‘to grow up’. Adolescence is defined in psychology as a special time of change in the life of humans, leading them from childhood into adulthood. And here it constitutes a sort of overriding formula behind the work’s dramatic construction. In this work, I attempted to compose a ‘background narrative’ – a key idea in my current explorations as a composer. Adolescere also has a personal dimension – it is dedicated to my good friends Przemysław and Jakub Broszkiewicz.
