Reed Trio
for Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon
[…] Władysław Walentynowicz, a Polish pianist, composer, teacher and musical activist. His compositional oeuvre comprises around a hundred symphonic and chamber works, many of a pedagogic character. Walentynowicz’s compositional style is marked by a traditional idiom. Simplicity of utterance, clarity of form and a distinctive motoric narrative flow lend his works a neoclassical character with discernible quasi-Romantic and folkloric elements. His Suite for oboe, clarinet and bassoon from 1952, also functioning as Muzyka na trio stroikowe dla młodzieży [Music for reed trio for young musicians], was published by PWM for the first time in 1981 under the title Reed Trio. This cohesive four-movement work represents excellent material for both concert performance and educational purposes.
