Swanee River
for Dixieland Band
"Swanee River, dating from 1851, is one of the greatest and most popular jazz standards. It first functioned under the title Old Folks at Home. Millions of copies were printed. It is probably the best--selling song of that period, also known under the titles Swanee Ribber and Suwanee River. [...] Among the most popular jazz renditions of Swanee River are Louis Armstrong’s version (recor-ded with the Mills Brothers vocal ensemble), Albert Ammons’s boogie-woogie piano interpretation (released in 1946), Sidney Bechet’s lyrical rendering on soprano saxophone and a concert version by the Sidney Bechet-Buck Clayton Sextet (recorded in Brussels in 1958)".
