Theme varié
for Piano
Written in 1909, Thème varié is a work from the composer’s modest output for piano. As the title indicates, this work takes the form of variations. The theme is reworked in ten different ways, with each variation representing a different character; for example, the fifth displays a mood of agitation, and the ninth exudes the elegance of a mazur. This composition should present a challenge for the mature pianist.
