Stefani Works
The career of Jan Stefani coincided with one of the more diffi cult times in Polish history. The musician, of Czech ancestry, arrived in Poland after the fi rst partition of 1772, andre-mained until his death. His work introduced new aesthetic values and became a founda-tion for the work of subsequent composers. We would like to revive the memory of one of the most important composers from the era of Stanisław August Poniatowski’s reign and the beginning of the 19th century. For this reason, we are publishing the critical series The Complete Works of Jan Stefani
