Krakowskie Trio Stroikowe
[Cracow Reed Trio]
Although the reed trios recorded on the present CD were composed at different times, they are surprisingly similar both in the treatment of instruments and in the stylistic domain. A common feature is the more or less recurrent neoclassical idiom manifested especially in the toccata quality and the motor-rhythm present in all the pieces as well as the fairly reserved emotionalism of the lyrical sections. That common ''axis'' makes it possible, however, to distinguish between the aesthetic attitudes of the composers, the more so as each of them treated his trio as a short cycle of three to four miniatures. Thus the listener receives just the essence of particular stylistic attitudes. [M. Jabłoński]
