Mass

for Mixed Choir and Orchestra Op. 68

Countries of delivery:
  • Cat. no. 9275

''The Mass for mixed choir and orchestra, Op. 68 was performed for the first time in 1996. The arrangement of five traditional parts assumes in this Mass the form of two 'symphonic arches'' as the composer describes them. In order to attain this form, it was enough to combine attacca Kyrie with the Gloria and the Credo with the Sanctus. Agnus Dei as an independent part may be recognised as an epilogue to the whole. This symphonic style of the Mass causes the liturgical context to lose some of its importance. It becomes a subject only and the emotional, thus approximating the vocal-instrumental work to pure music, although the vocal side does not lose its value because of this.
