Concert of PWM Premieres

2013-02-15
A special event will take place in just a little over a week - February 17, Maria Rozynek (soprano) and the Amadeus Chamber Orchestra of Polish Radio conducted by Agnieszka Duczmal will perform a concert made up of six new works by Polish composers. The concert is exceptional – for the first time we will hear will works by not only well-known and respected composers who are associated with PWM for many years (such as Mikołaj Górecki and Marcel Chyrzyński), but also those whose music has recently found a place in PWM's catalogue.

Justyna Kowalska-Lasoń (born 1985), Ewa Fabiańska (born 1989), Paweł Piotr Pietruszewski (born 1988) and Adam Porębski (born 1990) are representatives of the youngest generation of Polish composers, who have succeeded in a short time in becoming a big presence on the composition scene. They are united by not only bold and genuine musical expression, but also successful participation in the T. Ochlewski Composition Competition, organised by PWM (Ewa Fabiańska and Justyna Kowalska-Lasoń are winners in the ninth edition of the contest, and Paweł Piotr Pietruszewski and Adam Porębski - from last year).

The following works are to be found in the concert programme:
1.    Jasności promieniste, a small mystery for solo soprano by Mikołaj Górecki, a work commissioned by PWM
2.    „Aby jednak pieśni nie zgasły, wynieś je poza światy” for string orchestra by Justyna Kowalska-Lasoń, a work commissioned by PWM
3.    Ukiyo-e for string orchestra by Marcel Chyrzyński, a work written under the auspices of the IMiT composition commissioning programme
4.    Offenbarungen und Eingebungen for string orchestra by Ewa Fabiańska, a work written under the auspices of the IMiT composition commissioning programme
5.    RiFFFonia for string orchestra by Paweł Piotr Pietruszewski, prize winning work in the X T. Ochlewski Composition Competition
6.    Semi-overture for string orchestra by Adam Porębski, commended work in the X T. Ochlewski Composition Competition

The concert will take place in the Adam Mickiewicz University Hall in Poznań.

37th Krakow International Festival of Composers, 10-18 May, 2025 under honorary auspices of Aleksander Miszalski, Mayor of Krakow

The theme of the 37th Krakow International Festival of Composers is music in music. Already in the 1970s, this issue was studied by the outstanding founder of the Krakow Theoretical School, Professor Mieczysław Tomaszewski. He reflected on the subject in an article entitled “At the Opening: why ‘music in music’”, which was published before one of the famous Music Meetings in Baranów.
