Grandes etudes de concert op. 60 cz. 2
for piano
The second book of the collection contains another six developed compositions that present the piano in its full sound and give the soloist the opportunity to dazzle the audience with their impressive technical skills. These atrractive pieces can even today serve as encores. Only a few nineteenth-century piano masters were able to combine superb technical skills with the highest artistic level. It seems that in terms of his understanding of virtuosity, Sowiński is closer to Liszt - for whom a concert hall full of listeners was the element which unleashed the fullness of his artistic potential - than to Chopin, who with his refined presonality, full of delicacy and elegance, felt much better performing for a small audience.
