SynEsthESiA
for Accordion
SynEsthESiA was written in 2014 and dedicated to Przemysław Wojciechowski.
Presented in the opening section, Red, are the two planes which underpin the forging of the whole work’s narrative. The first plane is the ‘layer of consciousness’, while the second is the ‘layer of subconsciousness’. The ‘layer of consciousness’ is different in each of the sections: Red is dominated by the notes e, e flat and a; Blue by a, b flat and e; Green by g and e. The ‘layer of subconsciousness’ is formed by the accordion’s lowest notes, e and f, which remain constant throughout all the sections of the composition.
