Three Songs
for baritone and piano
One can get the impression that the character of the songs in this cycle is quite light, particularly the miniature Wróble warszawskie [The Warsaw sparrows]. The musical texture is also very accessible, despite the fact that the songs were composed with a classical performer in mind. In the musical narrative, however, one can sense certain melancholy and longing related to the philosophical interests shared by the poet and the composer. (...) The common feature of all three songs is their great cheerfulness and optimism preserved in the musical layer.
