Waltz from the film
in arrangement for Piano
A film adaptation of the novel ''The Promised Land'', by the Polish Nobel prize winner, Władysław Reymont. It depicts society in a dynamically growing capitalist city 19th century Łódź. The Promised Land, in a parallel to the biblical Kanaan is a place of hope - creating big business and making fortunes - so it attracts people of various cultures and faiths. The cost of success, however, turns out to be dire. The film itself received numerous nominations and awards including the Polish Golden Duck for Best Picture (2011) and an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film in 1976.
