The Lure of the Abyss
for clarinet, bassoon and marimba
The title The Lure of the Abyss came into my head as I wrote the first few notes on the manuscript paper, and it became a vague idea that accompanied me to the end of the composition process. It does not discharge an illustrative function, but is intended to give an idea of the overall character of the work, which is then translated into the interpretation, notes, motifs and phrases by the performer and will also stimulate the listener’s own reflections.
This work includes passages that are improvised or close to improvisation. The ultimate form of the composition and its sound depend to a large extent on the performing artists, whose task it is to interpret the work and invest it with their own vision.
